Here is where you come on Deviantart to throw down your skills in
Graff. You’ll be against other writers, on this site. Members of the
community will vote on letter forms, flow, fill, and character (if
present). If there is a tie or if it appears that friends voted for
friends then the judges will vote for the winner.

Ok, how does this work???
Easy Write “NC” in the comments of this journal, and that puts you on
the list of writers doing battles the following week. Remember to
“NC” each week you want to battle

Ok how will I know what battle I’m in?
Easy, put ~TheNewCity on deviant watch, make sure you have journal
clicked on and when new journal entries get put up read it for your
name, it should have your name and your match-up followed by your
word.

How do I submit my piece to battlez?
Easy, Do a piece, submit to your gallery as "NC-(your word)" as the
title of the piece, and send a note to ~TheNewCity, saying "SUBMIT"
<---REMEMBER THIS! Just a little hint- "All warfare was won by
deception!"

How big, How small should I make it?
OK being that you asked, for width 500-800 pixels wide. Height isn’t
such a problem, but try to keep it under 1200 pixels, for those
vertical layouts. The pieces get Sized down to 800 pixels at 100 DPI
for width. So there aren’t twenty inch wide deviations made for me to
resize.

A related question…
Hey when I scan my picture in it’s always HUGE, how do I fix that?
OK there’s a mathematical way of explaining why that happens, but
here’s the easy fix, on the options of your scanner set the DPI to
72-100 that’ll keep the scan about real to life size. Should be able
to find the adjustment on “resolution” in the scan window, at least
that’s how it works with mine.

Ok I know my word I know how big it should be, when is it due?
They are due the following Sunday by midnight.(Don't worry as long as
you send a note saying submit by the time I post them Monday night
everything will be fine but after that your S.O.L...

How do rankings get done?
WIN LOSE OR DEFAULT revised: Win 2 point Lose zero points. Win by
default one point Lose by default negative two points.
The extra thing is if there is more then one default piece they get
bunched and judged as one battle. The best default gets a two point
win award, the rest still get their one point. Like an over time
win/loss in hockey.

What is the Feature Word about?
It's just an open battle that gains you 2 points if you win and none
if you loose.

Why are the words done by Themes?
Themes keep everyone sorta on the same level...But you don't have to
follow the theme it is preferred, but is not an official rule....

What if I do a battle and it has digital post work on it?
It will get marked "DD" for digitally disqualified if you are in a
traditional battle.

What if I forget or am late in submitting?
Too bad! you have the same amount of time as everyone else I even
said Sunday night is the deadline but as long as you send a note
saying "SUBMIT" by the time I go to post the battle pieces on Monday
everything will be fine! (Try to at least do it early Monday because
if I post at 11 in the morning and you post at 2 I'm going to say too
bad!)

Ok "I "NC'd" in but I'm not in the battle?"
Either you NC'd after I submitted the journal or you have screwed
yourself over by not submitting....
